Afternoon arrival at Ben Gurion Airport to be met and assisted by your ITC representative - Ascent to Jerusalem. Gaze upon the Temple Mount from the Tayelet, as did Abraham when he prepared to sacrifice Isaac; take in the breathtaking view. Hotel check-in and welcome dinner.

Thursday, 24 June - Jerusalem of Old

Take part in a moving Bar/Bat Mitzvah service at Robinson's Arch, the "Conservative Kotel". " Explore the Southern Wall Excavations and take a virtual, computerized "walk" through the ancient Jerusalem Temple at the Davidson Center, In the Kotel Tunnels, walk alongside the Kotel's massive foundation stones (Option: younger children remain at the hotel this morning with the family educator and possibly some parents to enjoy the pool - or go to the Biblical Zoo - and then join the group) Free time for lunch (on one's own) and shopping in the Jewish Quarter. Take in a rooftop view of the four quarters of the Old City of Jerusalem, followed by a walk through many centuries with your guide in the Jewish Quarter. Free evening in Jerusalem

Friday, 25 June - Those Who Made a Difference

Visit the newly-opened state-of-the art Memorial Museum at Yad Vashem (age 12 and over only); younger children visit Jerusalem's Biblical Zoo. At Har Herzl Military Cemetery encounter the "silver platter" on which the Jewish people have acquired - and continue to acquire - our state. Return to Jerusalem late afternoon to visit colorful, bustling Machaneh Yehuda open-air market, as Jerusalem prepares for Shabbat. Kabbalat Shabbat as a group in an Old City courtyard, followed by "making the scene" at the Kotel Shabbat dinner at the hotel

Monday, 28 June - The Dead Sea Region

Depart for the Dead Sea Region Take part in a Bar/Bat Mitzvah service in the special setting of Ein Gedi's ancient synagogue Take a walk through the beautiful Ein Gedi nature reserve and study the biblical story of kings David and Saul that took place there "on site" with Rabbi Paskin Hotel check-in to enjoy its spa facilities and the amazing Dead Sea Enjoy a camel trek through the desert and a delicious Bar/Bat Mitzvah celebratory dinner and Bedouin hospitality (kosher of course!) in a Bedouin tent

Tuesday, 29 June - Freedom Fighters or Fanatics?

Early departure to climb to Masada by the cable car or snake path; tour this magnificent excavation and a discussion of the terrible dilemma faced by its Jewish population during Roman times Descend Masada by the Roman Ramp and travel into the Negev Desert. Gaze out over a breathtaking Negev Desert landscape from the site of Ben Gurion's grave. Visit Ben Gurion's Hut in Sde Boker for personal insight into the life of this outstanding Zionist leader and Israel's first prime minister. At Moshav Nevatim, home to Cochini Jews from India, visit their impressive synagogue, brought over from India, and their small ethnic museum. Visit Israel's Airforce Museum near Beersheva to view the planes and equipment and to hear the story of this brave fighting force (time permitting) Travel to Sderot to meet with the community representatives and hear about the challenges of living there Return to the field school for dinner Moonlit desert hike (nearly full moon tonight!) with field school staff

Thursday, 1 July - Digging Israel

At Archeological Seminar's "Dig for a Day" program at Beit Guvrin, uncover actual artifacts as you participate in an ongoing archeological dig. "Cave crawl" also available for the adventurous Depart for Israel's north. Tour the synagogues, courtyards, and alleyways of the mystical city of Tzefat. Free time for shopping in Tzefat. Continue north to Nahariah for hotel check-in Enjoy a free evening on Nahariah's riverside and seaside pedestrian promenades.

Excavations include an impressive amphitheatre and aqueduct Walk through the fascinating, underground Roman water system that once fed ancient Caesaria at Alona Park near Binyamina (strap-on water shoes, towel needed)
